Unsere Lagen
We manage six hectares of vineyards (60% are steeply sloped sites), that are nearly exclusively planted with Riesling vines. Our vineyard property spreads across a perimeter of nearly 20 km.
Der Schweicher Annaberg
Following the Mosel Rivers course our property starts in Schweich. With the "Schweicher Annaberg" we posses a completely southward oriented vineyard. In this sloped site an especially rare soil structure is predominant, that can only be compared to the "Ürziger Berg": Predominately older Permian period rocks ("Rotliegendes") combined with red slate and greywacke ("Grauwacken"). Here is where voluptuous and mineral driven Riesling vines grow, this vineyard has both, depth and power. Especially in very dry years the "Annaberg" can store enough moisture for the vines, resulting in outstandingly impressive wines. It is not amazing that the "Annaberg" is classified as first class terroir in the historical maps of 1868.
Die Leiwener Laurentiuslay
Following the Mosel downwards the "Leiwener Laurnetiuslay" is the next vineyard. This small individual site, oriented south-southwest, is as well a steeply sloped site. Here the soil is shaped from blue Devon-Slate, typical for the Mosel River, resulting in elegant, tender and classy Riesling with an extraordinary savour.
Der Leiwener Klostergarten
Framing the village "Leiwen" on the right banks of the Mosel River the "Leiwener Klostergarten" resides. The diversity of the location - sometimes flat, sometimes on slight or medium foothills - is represented in the soil structure: Partly recondite with a high portion of clay up to soil governed by gravel and slate. Of course, such a vast spectrum of "terroir" results in an equally rich variety of wines from different grapes harvested within this vineyard.
Die Trittenheimer Apotheke
The next Mosel-downward vineyard location with the same orientation to south-southwest is the "Trittenheimer Apotheke". This world-famous vineyard produces Riesling that excel with fine fruit and playful elegance. This is the result of the predominant slate-decomposition soil. This pure southward oriented site is an exemplar for the variety of Mosel Riesling, as the wine lover can find here and type that can be produced within this unique region: From fruity and elegant Kabinett-wines with a good acidic structure up to delicate, noble rot Selections and Berry Selection.
